Other Uses for Acomplia

Studies have shown that some patients that have taken Acomplia found it an effective treatment to stop smoking as well. Not only does it aid in smoking cessation, but it works to prevent the user from weight gain normally associated with stopping smoking. The FDA has yet to study this effect thoroughly so as of yet it is not being promoted as a viable option for quitting smoking.

Other uses of Acomplia may be related to addiction issues. Cocaine, opiates and ethanol relapses have been shown that when one is using Acomplia they are significantly reduced. It is said to affect two of the three triggers that are involved in relapse, cues and priming. The affects have not had enough study so as in smoking cessation and other addiction issues, the jury is still out on the effectiveness of Acomplia for these conditions.

Those that are severely overweight or have addictions to drugs, alcohol or nicotine may find that the risks involved in taking Acomplia are worth taking because of the good this drug can do for them. It is up to each individual along with their health care provider to ascertain if these risks are acceptable.

Though Acomplia is not sold in the United States at this time, it is possible to get the drug if one is persistent. Acomplia is in a class of new drugs and the effects must be further studied before the FDA gives Acomplia their approval for use in the general population. Though Acomplia may truly be a wonder drug, more research and studies need to be done to ensure that it is safe as well as effective in its applications.
